2. Mare Island Brewing Co. Coal Shed BreweryA production brewery and special event space, Mare Island Brewing Co. inhabits a former Coal Shed (formerly for storing coal for the steam ships of the early 1900's). Not open to the public otherwise, every Sunday 12:00PM-4:00PM the brewery turns on the taps, has simple lunch fare, and welcomes the public, with a group tour at 2PM as part of The Wet Mile. 3. Mare Island Art StudiosWhen the Shipyard first closed in 1996, one of the first groups to repurpose a building was this artists co-op; for over 20 years now they have called the Island home. On the waterfront at the northernmost end of The Wet Mile, the artist studio is not otherwise open to the public (save for a few special events throughout the year), but on Sundays from 12-4pm the artists open their gallery, retail shop, and teach art classes (sign up online).

4. Vino Godfather WineryVino Godfather Winery has breathed glorious life into one of the former's Captain's quarters on Officer's Row. Step back in time, and taste local wines in the stately rooms as well as the picturesque and expansive back lawn. Vino Godfather is open other days of the week, but particularly welcomes those wandering The Wet Mile on Sunday from 12-4PM with a food truck to help satisfy your hunger and discounted tastings.

5. Ferry Street Wine & SpiritsHoused in the recently renovated BLDG 45, with a brick cistern from the 1800's--uncovered during renovation--exposed and viewable, Ferry Street Wine & Spirits is a local wine, beer, and spirits shop that features--for obvious reasons--the wares of the artisans of The Wet Mile. Open every Sunday for The Wet Mile from 10-4pm.

ALSO ON MARE ISLAND
- The Mare Island Museum: While not open on Sundays, on other days of the week the Museum, housed in the former smithery and the oldest building on the Island, is a great place to truly soak up 142 years of Mare Island Naval History. One of their main attractions is their signature outdoor exhibit, the sail of the USS Vallejo, on display 24/7 in the former building ways on the waterfront.
- St. Peter's Chapel: Though open for interior viewing by appointment only (inquire at the museum), St. Peter's Chapel--the oldest Naval chapel on the West Coast (built 1901)--and its surrounding park are a beautiful place to visit at any time. See the Chapel's 29 stained glass windows, 25 of which are from famed Tiffany Studios in New York.
- The San Pablo Bay Trail: a flat, four mile trail along the bay-side waterfront with sweeping vistas of the Bay and Mt. Tam, and lots of birds and wildlife. No bikes allowed, but the hike is fantastic.
- The Mare Island Heritage Preserve: a 100+ acre wooded park at the very southernmost end of the Island with a historic cemetery, osprey nests, and a steep one-mile hike to the highest point on the Island, featuring "The Spirit Ship" sculpture and a panoramic 360 degree view of the Bay and beyond. (NOTE: temporarily closed as of Oct 2019 due to wildfire.)
- The Mare Island Golf Club: The oldest golf Course on the West Coast, established in 1892. (NOTE: currently closed for renovation.)
